If you buy a online update launch machine, you’ll have to face this problem: How to transfer launch x 431 software to CF card.

This articel will show you all the details.

Once you download the software to desktop.you will notice a new icon has been added to it. You will use this program to transfer software to the CF Card.

Updating the CF Card

1. If you have not already done so, connect one end of the USB cable to
the CF Card Reader and the other end to a free USB port on your PC.

2. Install CF Card into reader.

3. Double-click the X431 Update icon on your Desktop. The X431
Update program opens.

There are two areas on this window to which you need to pay attention.
In the upper left corner is the vehicle list, which is taken directly from
the X431 Downloads folder that is on your local drive. Each vehicle line
title is followed by its version number. Also notice the empty
checkboxes next to each line. You can check these off one by one to
select the lines that you want to make available to the X-431. Or at the
bottom of the list you can check off the Select all checkbox to select all
of the lines in the list. Any programs you load onto the CF Card remain
there until you manually delete them.

The second area is below the vehicle list and contains your Source
folder destination, Target folder destination, and the space statistics for
your CF Card. Your Source folder is the X431 Downloads folder that
you created previously. The Target folder is the CF Card Reader. The
space statistics will change depending on the contents of the x431
update folder and the capacity of the CF Card.

4. To change the Source folder, click the binoculars to the right.

  1. . Select the correct folder, and click OK. (C: -> X431 Downloads)
  2. . If you need to change the Target folder, click the binoculars, select the correct drive, and click OK.

You only want the outermost file in the target drive selected. For
example, if the removable drive is E:, and it has two subfolders, DATA
& GAG, you want the target to read E:, not E:\DATA or E:\GAG. The
update program will place the software into the appropriate folders
automatically.

NOTE • The correct drive is a Removable Disk drive. If you are not
sure which is the right drive, the way to check is when the CF Card is
inserted in the Reader, the correct drive will have two folders in it:
DATA and GAG.

Product Formation:

Launch x431 master has three main units: X431MASTER main unit, SMARTBOX and MINI PRINTER. Each of the three parts has independent function.

X-431 GX3 unit is the variant sold only in China mainland and Malaysia, and all the units sold in other area are considered as being illegal;

This unit has some features (of both hardware as well as software) that entitle us to affirm that the machine sold as X-431 Master is a willingly faked X-431 GX3, as follows:

1. the aspect of the buttons –the buttons of the unit are round (as X-431 GX3 has, as compared to the X-431 Master who has square buttons * for the obvious differences between the two units, please check the comparison table) );

2. the serial number of the unit was erased (see the pictures below).

          

3. The X-431 GX3 logo was erased with some chemical substance, and replaced with X-431 Master logo

FAQ About Launch X431 Master

1. Issue: Where do I go to register and download the latest software?

Answer: Go to http://www.x431.com. There will be two choices Launch China and Other Area . You can enter either site, both will be displayed in English. Be aware that after you register your unit you can download your new software immediately from that server but it will take approximately 24 hours for this the registration information to take effect on the other server.
2. Issue: Can I use my new Launch right away or do I need to download software?

Answer: Launch is continually updating their software, usually several carlines per week. The software that is on your Launch when you first receive it will be several months old at least. In order to get the latest software and capabilities you will need to register the unit and download the latest software. You are entitled to updates for 1 year from date of purchase and we encourage you to update frequently.
3. Issue: How do I register and download all the new software?

Answer: If you purchased the unit from an Authorized Distributor a download manual should be in the box. A download manual can be obtained from your Authorized Distributor or by calling 877- LAUNCH9 or emailing us at support@launchtechusa.com You will need your serial number.

4. Issue: When I try to register I am asked for the registration password, what is a registration password?

Answer: You will need to find the private and confidential envelope that comes with your unit which contains the serial number and registration password. If you do not have a download manual that shows this and details the download procedure please contact your Authorized distributor or Launch at 877-LAUNCH9 or support@launchtechusa.com . You will need your serial number.
5. Issue: When I take my X431 out of it’s case it has three different serial numbers, which one is the right one?

Reason: Every component of the X431 has it’s own serial number, the top one is the printer, the middle one is the display unit and the bottom one is the smartbox.
Answer: Use the smartbox serial number, the bottom one.
6. Issue: When I try to register the unit I get a message that says “incorrect dealer code”?

Answer: Launch tracks distribution through the dealer code. Your unit should have the dealer code on the outside of the shipping box. Please contact your Authorized Distributor or call 877-LAUNCH9 or email support@launchtechusa.com for the correct code if cannot find it. You will need your serial number

7. Issue: When I try to register my unit I get a message “unit not sold”?

Answer: Please call 877-LAUNCH9 or email support@launchtechusa.com You will need your serial number.
8. Issue: I get a Launch logo on the screen and then access the start menu in the lower left corner but I do not know what to select to start the Scanner software.

Reason: The proper way to start the scanner software is to use the Hotkey located directly above the power key
Fix: Directly above the Power button is a button that we call the Hotkey. After the X431 has booted up, press the Hotkey and the Scanner program will load. Once the Scanner program has loaded there will be a large start icon that covers half the lower screen, using the stylus touch this start selection and the vehicle selection screen will appear. If you prefer to use the start menu in the GAG and then GD Scan.
9. Issue: I get a message to insert the card but the card is correctly installed?

Reason: The operating system is located on the card and is called the System Data file. If the card has been formatted or a new card is being used the System Data file will need to be installed from the Download Center
Fix: Visit the Download Center and be sure and download and install the System Data File

Question: There is no character on the backlit screen. What should I do?

Answer: Check if the power is well connected. Turn off the machine, unplug the power connector and re-plug it. Turn on the machine after it has been connected to the power for 1 second.

Question: Why does X431 MASTER fail in communication with ECU?

Answer: Please make sure that the diagnostic connector and diagnostic program are matching vehicle make.

Question: The screen keeps blank after flashing when the machine is turned on. What should I do?

Answer: Take out the CF card and re-start the machine to see if there is normal display. If the display is normal when the CF card is taken out, the CF card should be replaced. If the screen is still blank, please contact the local service engineer.

Question: Why does the system prompt that no CF card is found when the machine is turned on?

Answer: The possible cause is that no CF card is in the machine, or CF card is inserted improperly or damaged. If it is damaged, it is necessary to make a new one.

Question: What should I do if I can’t get into the diagnostic interface during test?

Answer: The possible cause is that no CF card is in the machine, or CF card is inserted improperly or damaged. If it is damaged, it is necessary to make a new one.

- Question: “Removable Disk” icon does not appear in the catalogue of “My computer” after the CF card reader/writer is connected to the
USB port of computer. Why?

- Answer:
Possible cause: there may not be driver for CF card reader/writer in the computer. The default driver is with the operating systems like Windows Me/2000/XP, Mac OS 9.x/Mac OS X and Linux 2.4.X. However, there is no such default driver with Windows 98.

Solution: Check if there is the driver for CF card reader/writer in the computer. If the computer uses Windows 98 operating system, it is necessary to install the driver into computer by using the CD-ROM provided with CF card reader/writer.

When the CF card reader/writer driver is installed successfully, a “Removable disk” icon will appear in the catalogue of “My computer”. Usually it is listed after original disk drive. For example, if there were drives A, B, C and D originally, the removable disk will be “E”. If there were drives A, B, C, D and E originally, the removable disk will be “F”. The rest may be deduced by analogy.

- Question: Some downloaded diagnostic program is not listed in the update tool, what is the reason?

- Answer: There are two possible causes:
1. The downloaded diagnostic program is not put in the same folder as other diagnostic programs. Please move it to the same folder as others.
2. The diagnostic program is not fully downloaded. Please download the program again.
